自小时候父母离异，舞台演员远山卓便和父亲鲜有来往。某日突然得悉父亲患上认知障碍，而其现任妻子——当年抛妻弃子的引火线，却不知所踪。父子俩忽然多了相处的时光，多年来的空白终有机会被填补。然而父亲的记忆开始变得支离破碎，与现实日渐脱节；儿子越是尝试了解父亲，越是发现被填补的缺口，似乎只是另一个缺口的开端。倘若系铃人已对铃失去记忆，这个铃还能被解开吗？在国际影展崭露头角的导演近浦启与为是枝裕和多次掌镜的摄影师山崎裕携手带来新作，全片以35mm菲林拍摄，风格强烈，老戏骨藤龙也更凭借炉火纯青的演技荣获西班牙圣塞巴斯提昂国际电影节最佳主演奖。
