◎简 介
美国亚利桑那州矿业小镇繁荣镇，一辆运送化学原料的卡车发生事故，将有毒废料倾倒进当地河流。镇上养蛛人的上千蜘蛛被污染，变得体积庞大，成批进入废弃的矿井栖息繁殖。小镇警长珊姆•帕克（卡瑞•伍尔Kari Wührer饰）的儿子迈克（史考特•泰拉 Scott Terra 饰）发现了巨大的蜘蛛腿，怀疑养蛛人遇害，但母亲珊姆却不听儿子解释。镇上矿主的儿子克里斯•麦克康莫克（大卫•阿奎特David Arquette饰）在镇议会上归来，反对镇长出售矿井的建议。克里斯对珊姆余情未了，却没勇气向佳人表明心迹。迈克将巨型蛛腿展示给克里斯看，后者依然将信将疑。与此同时，矿井里的巨大蜘蛛开始攻击镇上动物，然后是人类。通讯系统也被“八脚怪”破坏，全镇人的生命危在旦夕……
